LUDHIANA: Department of cultural affairs, Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, organized an award presentation function for its high achievers at Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology here on Monday. The objective of the function was to honour its achievers since inception of the university in 1997. It was for students who have set records in sports events or have represented PTU in the inter-varsity youth festival and won medals.

At the function, all members of the bhangra team were honoured for winning a gold medal at the north zone inter-varsity youth festival. Damanpreet Singh, a member of the bhangra team said, "We have won it for the first time and our efforts have paid off." Gurbaksh Singh, another team member, said they are thankful to the college GNIMT and their incharge for their help.
Fourteen athletes, who had set new records in their respective events, were rewarded. Eleven athletes were honoured for winning the best athlete, cyclist, and swimmer awards as also cross-country medals.
